The New Cliff House-Important Information The iconic Cliff House has been totally renovated and has recently re-opened after many months. While bus groups are encouraged to visit the Lands End area, there are strict regulations for parking and viewing areas that must be adhered to for public safety. The National Park Service has put together the attached "Frequently Asked Questions" to assist tour operators and motorcoach companies in their tour planning.
Q. What visitor facilities currently exist at the Cliff House?
A. Restaurants
Sutro's: upscale New American cuisine, panoramic ocean view.
Bistro: casual dining, Zinc Bar, take-out counter.
Terrace Room: for private catered events up to 300 people
Gift Shop-Cliff House Gift Shop
Q. Does the new Cliff House have an observation point or public restrooms?
A. No. The Cliff House location is no longer an observation point. Restrooms are available for dining patrons only.
Q. Is Motorcoach parking or stopping available in front of the Cliff House?
A. Bus loading/unloading and parking and/or stopping is NO longer available in front of the Cliff House for sightseeing tours. For passengers with disabilities there is an ADA drop-off zone. Motorcoaches with Cliff House dining patrons may drop off passengers in front of the restaurant entrance and park in the designated parking lots at either Merrie Way or El Camino del Mar.
Q. Is there an alternate viewing and parking area for motorcoach passengers to view the ocean and the Sutro Baths/Lands End region?
A. Tours and motorcoach passengers are encouraged to visit the Sutro Baths/Lands End area of San Francisco. Bus passenger parking, drop-off and viewing are available in the following locations:
- At the Merrie Way parking lot above Sutro Baths - east of the Cliff House
- At the El Camino del Mar parking lot off 48th Avenue - north of Point Lobos Ave.
- Viewing platforms, telescopes, benches and wayside exhibits are available at both sites.
- Please note: There are no restroom facilities are available at either site
